  1. While the older Church Dogmatics is awfully tempting at that new price, I very much prefer the new study edition of Church Dogmatics, which is $250 more expensive at Christianbooks “preferred prices”). (Although I suggest simply buying the electronic Logos version, which in many ways is even *more* convenient.)

If one is actually going to read that work, I think that it will take a minimum of 200 hours. In other words, the new version is only about $1/hour more expensive, but much more accessible — a bargain.

On the other hand, if one is simply going to leave it on the shelf unread (as perhaps happens with most edition of Barth) — well, then, the Hendrickson is the way to go.

  2. Theo, the new study edition is around $700 from logos, which is a lot more than $99. Personally I prefer electronic more and more these days because I’m short on bookshelves, but the price is still too high. I wonder if the price will ever come down for Logos?
